Venus passes Messier 75 (after dusk)
On the evenings surrounding Friday, December 6, the eastward orbital motion of the bright planet Venus will cause it to pass a small distance from the
distant globular star cluster in Sagittarius designated Messier 75. At closest approach, Venus will be positioned 0.8 degrees south of the cluster, close enough for them to share view in a telescope eyepiece. For observers located closer to the tropics or in the Southern Hemisphere, the duo will be higher
and in a dark sky.
